At POETHICA, makers are a part of our extended team. We have fostered close relationships through consistent communication and regular visits to their workplaces. This has allowed us to build meaningful and open relationships to ensure our garments are made to a high ethical and sustainable standard.

Our makers are audited based on the following internationally recognized standards: WRAP; ISO; SEDEX SMETA; OCS (ORGANIC CONTENT STANDARD); SAI; OEKO-TEX; GOTS (GLOBAL ORGANIC TEXTILE STANDARD); INDEPENDENT CERTIFICATION BODIES AUDIT; SETU; USDA; OIE FIVE FREEDOMS; ISO 9001/ SEDEX SMETA by SGS.

Our vetting practice includes:

• POETHICA team visiting the factory to walk the floors and establish a personal relationship with the makers. When this is not possible, POETHICA part-take in regular dialogue with our makers to ensure transparency and POETHICA values are being upheld consistently. 
• POETHICA engages with external third party quality control and ethical standard auditing to ensure our factory partners ethical standpoint is in line with the POETHICA code of conduct. 
• Extensive and on-going Q&A’s to learn more about the factories, their values and standards.
• Regular collaboration and communication with our partners via phone, video conferencing and in person where possible.
• POETHICA does not tolerate any level of mistreatment on its workers and would act immediately on any complaint made by workers to protect them.

The POETHICA code of conduct covers the following standard for general practices:

• No forced labour
• No child labour – minimum age 18 years old
• No discrimination
• Respect for freedom of association and collective bargaining
• No harsh or inhumane treatment *POETHICA. does not tolerate any level of mistreatment on its workers and would act immediately on any complaint made by workers to protect them
• Safe and hygienic working conditions
• Wages are paid monthly and are above the standard wage
• Working hours are not excessive
• Regular employment
• Traceability of production 
• Health and Safety of products 
• Environmental awareness 

 

It is paramount that our partners adhere to these conditions and provide annual audits to POETHICA, unless requested otherwise.
